FIG Newsletter – February 2022 |
Dear Colleague,
This past week has shown us how fragile the world can be. FIG Council expresses its disapproval of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is against all fundamental principles of the global community regarding a peaceful and respectful living together. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with all the citizens of Ukraine and especially our Ukrainian colleagues and members.
We continue to monitor the situation carefully but there is currently no reason to believe that this will affect our plans for the FIG Congress 2022 taking place in Warsaw, Poland, 11-15 September 2022.
A true role model: Our Corporate Member of the Month is survey stake manufacturer from Japan, Ripro, who has decided to donate a generous amount to FIG Foundation Disaster Relief Fund to support Ukrainian surveyors and refugees.
The SDGs are designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. In this issue of our series on how FIG works with the SDGs, you can read about FIG Commission 9 on valuation and the management of real estate and the SDGs.

FIG Congress 2022 - Join us in September
The local organisers from SGP - the Polish Association of Surveyors - together with FIG, are fully occupied with the preparations of this special event that has to be organised within a year. The Congress only takes place once every 4 years, and it marks the final year of the current leadership of FIG, the council and commissions and there will be elections for a new President and new Vice Presidents.

ARTICLE OF THE MONTH
The Article of the Month in February 2022 is written by Agung Indrajit, Peter van Oosterom, Bastiaan van Loenen, the Netherlands and M. Hasannudin Yusa and Deni Suwardhi, Indonesia. Development and Usability Testing of the Participatory Urban Plan Monitoring Prototype for Indonesian Smart Cities based on Digital Triplets. This paper was part of the FIG e-Working Week in 2021 and focuses on the development of an application for participative monitoring of the implementation of urban plans which is crucial to detect challenges and evaluate alternative scenarios for intervention-making, achieving SDGs' targets and indicators.
