Welcome to FIG Regional Conference 2024

Climate Responsive Land Governance  and Disaster Resilience: Safeguarding Land Rights

Objective

Theme and topics


The main objective of the event is to build knowledge and capacity in the Asian region to address climate change and disaster-induced challenges in safeguarding land rights of vulnerable communities, emphasizing the critical role of land governance and disaster resilience.

The second objective is to foster collaborative partnerships among national and regional institutions, academics, and professionals from various organisations, including non-state actors, Non-Government Organisation (NGOs) and private sector, to facilitate multistakeholder dialogues, knowledge sharing and technology transfer at the regional level.

NICS and FIG aim to promote the important role of surveying professions and surveyors in translating sustainable development goals into action and enhancing community resilience to climate change.

Background

Outcome

The local hosts, Nepal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (NICS) was established in 2008 and has organised several events together with FIG. NICS seeks to create a unique opportunity in Nepal and beyond to focus on resolving regional land-related issues for the betterment of vulnerable communities.

The conference will be a major milestone in achieving the FIG vision on rethinking the way we approach the climate challenges of today. It will contribute to the responsibility of FIG towards achieving the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

A ‘Call for Action’ publication will be produced based on the conference to engage regional governments, professionals, and stakeholders. It will feature recommendations derived from the event.
