COBRA at ARES 2020
14 – 18 April 2020, Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort and
Spa - Fort Myers, Florida, USA
COBRA is the RICS research conference dedicated to construction,
building and infrastructure. Since its first edition in 1995, COBRA has
been held in different countries in partnership with local organisations
to act as a key event for presenting and discussing the latest research
across the world. ARES 2020 is the latest edition of the annual conference
held by the American Real Estate Society since 1985. For the 2020 edition
of COBRA, ARES and RICS join forces to present a dedicated track at ARES
2020, covering six overarching themes:
Project delivery: Construction management; Project management and
project delivery systems; Site management; Risk management; Health and
safety; Waste management
Construction business: Financing; Procurement; Sustainable and
socially-responsible procurement; Cost and value management; Contract
management; Quantity surveying
Professional advancement in construction: Leadership; Cooperation
and interdisciplinarity; Knowledge sharing; Ethics and transparency;
Professional education, skills and training
Policy and regulation: Building regulation and control;
Standardisation; Infrastructure planning and development; Legal
aspects of construction; Public Private Partnerships (PPP) and Private
Finance Initiatives (PFI)
Construction technology: Modern and sustainable methods of
construction; Low-carbon materials; Circular economy; Building
renovation; Building performance evaluation
Digitalisation: Building Information Modelling (BIM); Data
standards; Built environment modelling; ConTech; AI for cost
prediction; Blockchain for data validation and exchange
RICS is proud to announce the RICS COBRA Award 2020 of
US$1,500 for the best research paper presented in the track. Notable
papers will also be considered for the World Built Environment Forum
(WBEF) Research Prize, worth US$5,000 comprising: US$2,500 in cash and
participation at the 2021 WBEF Summit.
Papers accepted to the COBRA track will undergo a rigorous double-blind
peer review process to be published (digitally) and disseminated through
RICS channels. Researchers, students and industry professionals are
invited to submit abstracts by 15 October 2019 (8pm GMT) by emailing
cobra@rics.org. Authors of accepted
abstracts will be invited to submit full paper on 18 October 2019. The
deadline for submitting the full paper is set to 5 January 2020. For more
