FIG Task Force on FIG and the Sustainable Development
Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and
related land indicators will re-shape and influence our profession
profoundly in the decade to come. It is of crucial importance that FIG
member organisations and surveyors are aware and prepared on how their
(daily) work contributes to the achievement of the SDGs and vice versa. What
will be your role for the coming 10 years and how can you make the world a
better place with your skills?

The Council has established a new Task Force for 2019-2022. The Task
Force will focus on FIG and the Sustainable Development Goals. This Task
Force is chaired by Ms. Paula Dijkstra from the
Netherlands.

Empowered by the Sustainable Development Goals

world of how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are changing the
world. This session will give you valuable insights from the perspective
of climate action, creating sustainable cities, promoting resilient
infrastructure and enhancing inclusive economic growth. It will
demonstrate how surveyors are empowered by the SDGs to contribute to a
more sustainable world.
TS08F:
Ending Poverty & Securing Land Rights: the Role & Contribution of Land
Administration
It is clear what land administration professionals have to
achieve, but how can we make sure we achieve the goals? In this session
the ‘how’ question will be addressed with case-studies, research and
project examples.
- How do we, as surveyors, make sure that the amount of people
with tenure security, with legally recognized documentation, is
increasing?
- How do we make sure these recordations are accessible,
sustainable and upgradable for the decades to come?
- How do we make sure that women and vulnerable groups have
equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership
and control over land?
- How can we ensure that there is a legal framework (including
customary law) to guarantee women’s equal rights to land ownership
and/or control?
- How can Cadastre and Land Registry organisations support the
implementation of the SDGs. And how can we monitor the progress?
- How do we contribute to affordable and clean energy and the
sustainable land use to support this?
